The Bear Claw was the symbol of the Norse Viking Beserkers.  They believed that the Bear was their spirit animal and would bring them strength and protection.  The word Berserk means "bear skin".  When Viking Berserkers went into battle they wore nothing but a bearskin, which scared the opposing force.  They were known for their unstoppable force and energy, often intimidating any foe they faced.
